My First Mardi Gras Party
This year I am throwing my first Mardi gras party. I made my own invitations with Mardi gras masks all over them in the traditional colors of purple, gold and green. Of course we will have boxes of mardi gras beads available and the hall will be decorated in the traditional colors with the occasional item of gator décor thrown in here and there. The menu will also have a theme with Mardi gras mojitos and mint juleps as the main cocktail choices. Shrimp Creole, jambalaya and red beans and rice will be on hand for those who want to sample Cajun cooking. I will also have other choices for the faint of heart. My best friend’s husband is in a jazz band and they will be playing during the party. I’m still deciding if I am going to try to get them to all parade around outside in a mock Mardi gras parade. All I know is this should be a great party!

My daughter came home from school one day and tossed her book bag onto the kitchen table. Looking at me very serious she said she needed my help. Matter of fact she said she needed the names of the greatest christmas songs that I knew of. While she was rummaging for a notebook and a pencil I sat there with my coffee in my hand a little surprised by her demand.
Looking back at me with pencil in hand now, she told me she needs 5 titles of great Christmas songs and then she has to do research on them for her teacher as an assignment. That was when it all came together! She was doing an assignment and wanted to pick my brain for the answers. I delicately told her I though the teacher wanted her favorite and not my favorite. I am sure there would be two totally different answers!
